Fergus’s Guide to Getting Away With (Almost) Anything

Fergus has a talent for mischief. Here’s what his antics taught us about keeping a curious dog safely entertained.

Fergus has always had a talent for finding trouble. Whether he’s investigating something he shouldn’t, turning an ordinary object into a new toy, or finding his way into places he doesn’t belong, his curiosity keeps life interesting. But behind all that mischief is a dog who simply loves to explore.

Instead of trying to stop every curious moment, we learned to give Fergus safe ways to satisfy that need to investigate. Interactive toys, treat puzzles, sniffing games, and plenty of supervised play give him something positive to focus on while keeping his clever mind busy.

We also learned that a little routine goes a long way. Regular walks, playtime, training, and opportunities to explore help Fergus burn off energy and stay mentally stimulated. When he has enough to do, he’s much less likely to invent his own entertainment.

Of course, Fergus still manages to get away with a few things. That’s part of his charm. His adventures have taught us that curious dogs don’t need less curiosity—they need the right outlets for it. Give them something safe to explore, and you might just save yourself from their next great idea.
